OpenView OVPI (Performance Insight)
|
|
|
HP OpenView Performance Insight is designed to answer the questions that result from service level management:
- Are you currently meeting your service level agreements?
- What is the availability and performance of your services and the networks, systems and applications that make up that service?
- If a service is not performing well, what components are adversely affecting it?
- What components of a service are likely to fail and when?
HP OpenView Performance Insight provides the required insight into your
management data for successful service level management. HP OpenView
Performance Insight is a highly scalable and customizable reporting
tool that collects, analyzes and summarizes management data from
networks, systems and services. HP OpenView Performance Insight can
help you implement service level management by monitoring and reporting
on the systems, networks and applications that make up that service.
The reports that are created can easily be customized for your
customers or service managers. Not only does HP OpenView Performance
Insight include out-of-the-box reports on management data collected and
generated by popular HP OpenView tools such as HP OpenView Network Node
Manager, HP OpenView Performance Agents and HP OpenView Internet
Services, but it can also report on a wide range of network protocols
and devices. You can customize the out-of-the-box reports, create new
reports and pull in new sources of data to report on. HP OpenView
Performance Insight gives you the flexibility you need to report on the
data that is most important to you and your customers. |

| MIMIC Virtual Lab creates
a real world lab environment with a network of Cisco Routers and Switches. It
gives hands-on learning experience without buying expensive equipment.
MIMIC Virtual Lab is for beginners interested in familiarizing themselves
with the complex environment and for intermediate or expert users looking to
sharpen their skills and move to a higher level. It gives a safe environment
to practice. You don't have to worry about bringing down the equipment/network
and affecting other users.
MIMIC gives Network Engineers an ability to practice for certifications instead
of just reading instructions. It enables Training organization to give a lab
to students with the classroom training or e-learning courses. Students can
interact with Routers and Switches, just like with real devices.
The Lab
Interact with the routers and switches, just like real devices:
- Network of 11 devices
- Cisco Routers (2501, 2524, 4500 and 7531)
- Cisco Switches (2916, 3548)
- Five end systems
- LAN, WAN and Serial links
Users can Telnet in to any of these devices from local or remote
machines as if they are connecting to real devices. Any number of
users can connect at a time. It fully supports Cisco IOS® software
and SNMPv1, v2, v2c, v3.
Device Operations
- Logging in/out
- Get into and out of different modes - User, Privileged, Configuration, Interface
- Set passwords, IP addresses, clock rates, hostname, bandwidth
- Assign routing protocols - RIP, IGRP
- Ping other devices on the network
- Save/load configurations
- Boot using flash or TFTP protocol
- Configuration of CDP, PPP, Frame Relay and OSPF protocols
- and many other fuctions required for certifications
Lab Operations
- Start/Stop devices, individually or in a group
- Save/Load a configuration of the network
- View configuration information of a device or the entire network
- Troubleshoot
- View the topology with connections and addresses
- Open Telnet sessions
- Context sensitive help
You can also discover and cofigure using Cisco Network Management applications
such as CiscoWorks, CiscoWorks 2000, CiscoView and CEMF (CDM, GSR Manager),
just like real devices. All the changes done using IOS are visible via management
applications and vice versa.
If you are interested in creating your own devices and topology,
MIMIC Simulator tool kit is also available. You can simulate
as many as 10,000 devices in a lab. It includes MIMIC Recorder to
record Cisco devices to help create the lab topology you need. |
